These courses usually run during the winter months which give would be holiday makers plenty of time to learn a few simple sentences and words. By learning a little of the language before taking the holiday they will have much better communication skills during their time abroad. Attending a language school (Sprachschule) for German and practising conversation with other students helps them when they are shopping for expensive goods in Germany.

Although most of the younger people in Germany can speak a little English, there are language courses (alemania.ch/de/tipps_lernen.html) available all over the country to help people master the English tongue.
